Hamilton's Sustainability Professionals Network is always looking for opportunities to help promote all things sustainability in Hamilton.  If you have an event, program, activity etc related to the topic of sustainability that you would like us to help you promote, drop us a line at and we'll be happy to discuss!

We have several different ways that we regularly connect with you.

-- Sustainable Hamilton’s Evening of Recognition is on June 24. This event celebrates sustainability in the Hamilton business community. More information is available here.


-- Environment Hamilton is hosting the Lake to Lake Bike Ride this coming weekend, June 14-15.  There are a variety of different ride lengths from day trips to overnighters, all food and accommodations are covered as part of your registration fee, and all funds raised go to help Environment Hamilton.  Click here for more details and to register.  The deadline is TODAY June 12.

-- Environment Hamilton is also organizing a program to do Mobile Air Monitoring by bicycle in the City. If you are a regular bicycle commuter and are interested in participating, contact Jay Carter at

-- Ride for the Masses is taking place as part of the Steel City Bike Fest on Friday evening, starting at Victoria Park at 6:30pm.  More details are available here.

-- The Hamilton Naturalist's Club is organizing Trees Count 2014, a tree inventory in the Westdale neighbourhood this summer, and are looking for volunteers.  Visit their website for more details here.


-- On the subject of urban forests, TD Bank released a report this week that calculated the value of Toronto's urban trees at $7 Billion.  Read a CBC story on the report here.


-- BARC welcomes Chris Murray, Hamilton’s City Manager, as guest speaker at our Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 23 at the AGH Design Annex, 118 James Street North. Chris will share his insider’s perspective on the complexities of negotiating the Randle Reef project to contain toxic sediment in Hamilton Harbour. Come early for a reception with a cash bar and live music. If you are planning on attending, please RSVP.
